Drawing Conclusions

Beer Universe is a website where beer lovers can visit to rate, review, share and get recommendations about new beers to try. Users can also enter their zip or postal code to get a listing of bars/breweries near them. The website has over 4,000 users as of September 2010.

The site was originally constructed by another company. I have been tasked with replacing old unreliable code with new well written and well structured code. The site is programmed with PHP, dependent on a MySQL database. The site also uses jQuery and Prototype to handle dynamic javascript. Facebook Connect was also integrated into the site recently in order to make it easier for Facebook users to sign up and log in.

Gradefund is a website that rewards students for academic excellence. GradeFund's users are split into two groups, Students and Sponsors. Students post their transcripts and grades and get rewarded through sponsors. Sponsors buy GradePoints to sponsor students.

This site is coded with PHP, using object oriented programming. I took over the programming on this project after another coder left. I completed the site and it was launched.

ArtSavvy is a social networking site for artists. The site is based around users locations (zip and postal codes), allowing users to be able to see the artwork before purchasing it. Users are able to post multiple pictures of their pieces, as well as videos if they desire. The site also has a listing of venues and events happening at venues. Users can form a collaboration to work on a project as well. Users can browse artwork or find other artists by location.

ArtSavvy was created for a client. The site is programmed with PHP based on a MySQL backend. I was responsible for all of the PHP/MySQL programming and some of the javascript code.

Updata Partners needed a new website. They wanted something that was easily manageable from an administration panel. All of the information displayed on the site is dynamic, pulled from the database.

My responsibilities included programming the site in PHP/MySQL. I also worked with some of the javascript code.

London Gold is a jewelry company based in Oakville, Ontario. I designed the website. I also took photos for the website. I programmed the site with PHP/MySQL. The site relies on javascript to calculate prices for different size diamonds on rings.

CiteSimple is a citation generator website. CiteSimple generates MLA and Turabian/Chicago citations. For a monthly or yearly fee, the user can upgrade their account (through Google Checkout) which allows them access to new features. Users who are logged in can save citation lists for later use. The user can also email, print, or export their citation lists to a .doc format.

The website is programmed with PHP using object oriented programming. The citation lists and user base are stored in a MySQL database.
